Draper Valley Golf Club Results

On Saturday, the Tri-Cities/Southwest Virginia chapter opened at the Draper Valley Golf Club in Wytheville, VA.  A buzz was in the air as players anxiously awaited getting the 2021 season underway, earning valuable points towards qualifying for the inaugural North American Championship at Pinehurst Resorts in October. A competitive field faced windy conditions, but a golf course that was in excellent shape.

In Division 1, Jerrod Ewing from the West Virginia chapter battled his way to a +2 over 74 on his way to victory. Ramsey Kimbrough from the Smokey Mountain chapter finished three shot back with an +5 over 77. Richard Fishwick finished six shots back at +8 over 80.

In Division 2, Mike Elliott from the West Virginia chapter took home the victory with a +5 over 77. Anthony Stout the Tri-Cities/SWVA chapter owner finished one shot back with a +6 over 78. Phil VanGeersdaelen the Charlotte chapter owner finished four shots back at +9 over 81.

In Division 3, Mike Carr for the West Virginia chapter bested the field with a nice +7 over 79. Austin Thompson and Brad Carr tied for second with a +18 over 90.

In Division 4, Dylan Issacs shot a solid +18 over 90 to take home the victory. Jason Mitchem and Josh Holmes finished one shot back with a nice +19 over 91.

In Division 5, Rob Luffman started his victory campaign with a seven shot victory shooting a solid +19 over 91. Brett St. Clairfinished the day in tough conditions with a +26 over 98. Finishing third was a trio of players Derek Kemp from the Charlotte chapter, Skyler Thompson and Aaron Carr with an impressive +28 over 100.  

From here, the APT moves to the South Holston Roofing Openat Glenrochie Country Club on Friday, April 16th. We look forward to seeing everyone for another exciting APT tournament and another chance to earn valuable points in our local Player of the Year race.
